Winter Symposium Cantigny Medill Room on Sunday March 12th at 12:00 - 3:00 pm.
Our winter symposium will be at the Cantigny Medill Room on Sunday March 12th at 12:00 pm until 3:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be award winning author Beth Botts who will be giving a talk on “Divide and Multiply” of our plants - not just hostas. Beth Botts has written hundreds of articles about gardens and nature for publications including the Chicago Tribune and magazines including Organic Gardening, Country Gardens and Chicagoland Gardening. Raised on the South Side of Chicago by an organic gardener, she now gardens in deep shade on the north side of a four-story apartment building. She crowds her roses into one small bed where the sun sneaks between the trees and grows tomatoes and herbs on the third-floor porch. Her website is www.thegardenbeat.com.
The guest garden vendor will be our own Jan Smith selling cement garden stepping stones with detailed leaf impressions in her designs prior to the meeting in the Medill Room. These are truly stepping stones lovely and will be a talking point in your gardens, as well as a focal point.
NIHS Members socializing continues from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Stay and visit for awhile with your fellow members!
