Our winter symposium will be held at Cantigny Park, Medill Room on Sunday March 3rd from 12:00 pm until 3:00 p.m.
12:00-1:00 p.m. The guest garden vendor will be our own Jan Smith selling cement garden stepping stones with detailed leaf impressions in her designs prior to the meeting in the Medill Room. She will also have garden art water colors to sell. These are truly stepping stones lovely and will be a talking point in your gardens, as well as a focal point. Jan does not take credit card payments, so please bring a check or cash to pay for her garden art.
1:00 -2:00 p.m. Our guest speaker will be Sean B. Menke, Ph.D. HIs topic:The Overlooked Splendor of Ants and Their Roles in Our Lives and Gardens. Professor of Biology at Lake Forest COllege. His research integrates the study of ecology, behavior and evolution into the fields of biogeography, community ecology and invasive species.
2:00 -3:00 p.m. NIHS Members socializing continues from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m. Water, tea and soda will be provided with some prepared snacks and some wonderful treats provided by our amazing NIHS bakers. Come stay and visit for awhile with your fellow members!
We will also hold a drawing for our Members and their Guests. We look forward to seeing our guests join as NIHS members.
